Attorney General Opinions

Opinions may be issued by the Attorney General of the State of Tennessee in response to requests by state agency officials and state legislators. These opinions are not law, but rather they advise state officials on questions of law and how the law applies to particular fact situations.

Attorney General opinions are letters of legal advice that are considered to have significance as applied to other circumstances. These opinion express well-considered opinions that may or may not be agreed with by a court faced with the same issue at a later date.

The first two numbers of the individual opinion tells the year in which the opinion was issued.

Questions concerning Attorney General opinions should be addressed to Dr. Joey Vaughn at (931) 728-2316 or emailed to jvaughn@k12mcs.net
